«Осиное гнездо» — так по НАТОвской классификации называется пункт базирования подводных лодок Тихоокеанского флота на Камчатке. Эта российская военно-морская база – ближе других расположена к территории США. Именно из этой точки Тихого океана уходят на боевое дежурство российские атомные подводные крейсеры с ядерными ракетами на борту. Вместе с тем, это — одно из самых суровых мест службы подводников на планете: большую часть года бухта Крашенинникова, где базируются подлодки, скована льдами. А еще— это одно из самых закрытых для прессы мест в стране. Впервые журналистам позволили так подробно рассказать об этом воинском подразделении: достаточно сказать, что в этом выпуске зритель впервые увидит подземную инфраструктуру базы. И, конечно же, «Военная приемка» покажет, как стратегические атомные подводные крейсеры несут боевое дежурство на море, и как на суше экипажи подлодок готовятся к морскому бою.

Today modern archaeology often works with digital technology. Geophysics has allowed thousands of ancient sites to be located — a huge gain for science.

The dig is no longer the be-all and end-all of archeology. We accompany some archeologists on their journey into the virtual past. Geophysics comprises a range of techniques with various geological and military functions. Geomagnetism is used to locate enemy submarines or potential reserves of oil or other minerals. Now, German and Irish archeologists have teamed up to use it to trace prehistoric grave systems. Researchers in western Germany are applying it to locate ancient procession and pilgrimage routes. Shipping archeologists in Bremerhaven are availing of digital technology to create virtual models of shipwrecks and, in Berlin, archeologists and game designers have also embarked on a joint project. As luck would have it, they scanned every millimeter of a temple in the Syrian city of Aleppo, not suspecting that, soon afterwards, the complex would be largely destroyed in the country’s civil war. Their virtual model is evidence that the study of the past can have uses for the present, just as technologies of the present can help us to study the past.

Un misterio envuelve a la famosa pintura de Leonardo da Vinci «La última cena.» Sólo el 20 por ciento de la obra original se aprecia hoy en día. Al estilo de una novela de suspenso, el reportaje intenta reconstruir cómo se veía en origen el mural.

Leonardo da Vinci, artista y genio universal del Renacimiento. En mayo se cumple el quinto centenario de su muerte. Creó obras mundialmente famosas, incluido el fresco «La última cena.» El mural se encuentra en su ubicación original, en el refectorio del antiguo convento dominico de Santa Maria delle Grazie de Milán. Esta pintura, de 4,60 metros de altura y 8,80 metros de ancho, fue restaurada durante 19 años. Durante los trabajos, los científicos descubrieron que hoy sólo puede apreciarse el 20 por ciento del original. Entonces, ¿qué aspecto tenía el original, al que rodean tantas leyendas?
